The Prophet ﷺ said
“Verily Allah has prescribed Ihsaan in all things” (Muslim)
Although being what would be termed a ‘home madrasa’, careful attention to structure envisages our vision – In the essence of Ihsaan* (Striving for Excellence), within our pedagogical ability, knowledge and practice. In executing the teaching structure with an adept level of Tarbiya – in the best manner for our madrasa family Insha’Allah!
Ihsaan is a comprehensive concept.
It includes doing things to your best ability, excellently, completely, beautifully, high quality, and doing them correctly in the right way according to the best standards.
A Muslim who practices Ihsaan throughout his life is a responsible person and a person who always does a high quality job in a timely manner. He is never satisfied with anything other than a very good quality job in all that he does, being timely not tardy, being reliable, right down to washing dishes, ironing, or a workout for her/himself. As commanded excellence is required for all actions.
The Prophet ﷺ said
” Allah loves to see one’s task done at the level of itqan (excellence)”
(Sahih Muslim)
In Islam, Ihsaan is one’s responsibility to obtain perfection or excellence in worship, such that Muslims try to worship Allah as if they see Him, and they undoubtedly believe that He is constantly watching over them as stated by Nabi Muhammad ﷺ in the Hadith of Jibreel:
“[Ihsaan is] to worship Allah as though you see Him, and if you cannot see Him, then indeed He sees you”.
In terms of the madrasa:
Ihsaan represents excellence in work, learning, our interactions with others, giving, dedication to our family, friends, and social life, and demonstrating the correct attitude in personal development insha’Allah.
Ihsaan also represents recognising and encouraging excellence in others. Students here are both individuals and part of the wider community.
May Allah bless all!
